This thermocouple is designed for measuring the temperature of small quantities of liquid. Its low thermal mass gives a very fast response for measuring temperatures.
In addition, the small wire diameter conducts less ambient air temperature to the bead where the temperature measurement is taken, thus reducing errors in temperature measurement.
